Journey to Bethlehem is an interactive outdoor drama production, and Journey to the Cross is an Easter musical production.
Journey to Bethlehem (J2B) is sponsored by Auburn Adventist Academy Church family the first full weekend of December. Families join tour groups to visit Herod, the Wisemen, significant Bible characters, Bethlehem merchants, the shepherds and angels, and the manger scene.
This is followed in the spring with Journey to the Cross (J2C), an indoor Easter musical production beginning with the war in heaven, continues with the birth and life of Jesus, includes Christ's death on the cross, and concludes with the hope of the Second Coming.
Journey to Bethlehem (J2B) represents an inter-generational ministry with volunteers from the age of one month to 75-plus years of age.
Each year around 360 costumed actors are working together to provide a holiday experience to share one of the greatest stories ever told.
The production brings people together for acting, behind-the-scenes assistance, music performance, animal care and more.
Ten area churches of various denominations are involved.
More than 200 students from Auburn Adventist Academy are involved.
The production accommodates about 6,500 guests.
Journey to Bethlehem began in 2006. Volunteers built a temporary set in the church parking lot for the first two years, and then constructed a permanent set for the city of Bethlehem in 2008.
Auburn Food Bank is a partner with Journey to Bethlehem. We have a long-standing commitment to giving back to the community. To date, more than $50,000 has been raised for the food bank through donations from journey partners.
